Steve Malone’s Renewed Patronage – A Boost for Empower Youth Zones and Manchester’s Youth

One of our cornerstone patrons, Steve Malone, has renewed his patronage with Empower Youth Zones. This commitment will see a generous grant of £100,000 allocated over two years, alongside the invaluable benefit of Steve’s extensive experience and network.

Steve Malone, who first became a patron in 2019 with his then-business partner Robbie Hargreaves, has decided to recommit solo. Reflecting on his journey with Empower, Malone shared:

“Having proudly supported Empower since 2019, I have seen first-hand the positive impact HideOut has had on the young people of Manchester. What sets HideOut apart is the incredible team running it and the highly skilled youth workers who deliver a wide range of programmes. These aren’t just fun activities; they provide young people with clear career guidance. Young people deserve to be empowered through opportunities. HideOut’s programmes equip our youth with the tools they need to become positive, contributing members of society. I am delighted to be involved with Empower Youth Zone and consider it an honour to contribute to the next generation.”

The impact of Empower relies heavily on sustained support from its founders and dedicated patrons. Contributions from patrons cover 70% of the annual running costs of the Youth Zone. Additionally, patrons like Steve Malone bring invaluable opportunities and access for young members, fostering connections with partners and aiding in fundraising and awareness campaigns.

With planning approval granted in 2023, the development of the state-of-the-art Salford Youth Zone (SYZ) is now underway, with plans to open in the summer of 2025. SYZ promises to usher in a new era for the city’s youth, offering educational, recreational, and developmental opportunities in a safe and inclusive environment. This initiative aims to empower young people aged 8 to 19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs, operating seven days a week, 52 weeks a year.

Beyond its direct benefits to young people, SYZ holds immense promise for the broader community. Through mentoring schemes, job opportunities, and volunteering initiatives, SYZ is set to become a vibrant hub of activities that will enhance community cohesion and contribute to the overall growth of Salford.

Let’s celebrate and support this vital cause, ensuring that every young person has the opportunity to thrive.
